Question:
Question about submitting a script to a producer?

I have a script that I've been working on. Its like a TV show/Soap Opera. I was thinking about submitting it to a producer but considering I'm not famous (I'm basically a nobody in their eyes) I'm sure no one would read it.

On the other hand I was thinking about posting my scripts on booksie.com. But If I post them on booksie and if down the road I decide that I want to submit my script to a producer then probably adding them to booksie would be a bad idea.

So my question is would posting my scripts on booksie be a bad move (especially if I ever decide to submit my script to a producer)?

I second (or third) registering the script with the WGA and sending a query letter. You might want to target literary agents for TV first. There's a book called "The Hollywood Representation Directory" which lists all sorts of agents. 'd recommend seeing if your library has a copy and making a list of Agents.

Getting an agent is hard, but if you have a good idea, you have a good idea. There's a whole lot of material out there on how to handle query letters and follow-up, so you might want to research there.

Also the WGA site should have a list of WGA franchised agents. You could call up the agencies and ask who represents TV writers, gather the names and write to them. Don't be shy about calling, but be quick, confident, and don't feel like you have to sell your script when you call.

Also, I'd work on a pitch for your show, like a quick "elevator speech" on how you'd sell it if you ran into a producer on the elevator. I was told to sell the sizzle not the steak.

Good luck!

If i were you , i would at least try to submit it to different producers.

If you put it on that booksie site it could get stolen if you dont have those copyright terms and stuff like that . So go ahead and send it to the producers . ( : Good Luck hunn !

Do not send your script - send a query letter. Scripts - by any actual producer - are immediately junked. Send a well written query letter - expect a lot of rejections and even more just plain being ignored. Hope for one response telling you to submit the script. WGA register it, of course.

You're up against professional writers - you need to act professionally.

The thing is, a producer could take your idea for himself and put it into his own words and you can;t do much about it.

You will probably need to get some patent/rights on your idea, or get your idea published as a book if you was serious about getting it produced into a TV show.

Send it to the producers, then if they don't like it you can put it on Booksie.

i'm guessing a television producer won't take a script theory from somebody who does not artwork for him, in spite of the undeniable fact that it relatively is well worth a attempt! verify you take care of your artwork nonetheless! i've got seen way too many video clips approximately manufacturers stealing an harmless guy or woman's super theory. :I

You might want to registar your script with the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) then send it to producers, that way nobody can steal your script

Good Luck :)
