I have to go on a business trip to New Jersey next week. My fiance is going with me and we are leaving the kids with grandma so this will be first time we've been a lone for an extended amount of time for a while. We will be in NJ for two days and then we're stopping over in NYC for a few days. Anyway we both love broadway plays, especially musicals, but have never had a chance to actually see one on Broadway. We are both total rent heads! We would see that, but we 've seen it about a hundred times and are planning to see it on tour with Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal in January YAY!!! So we want to see something new. We are between Wicked and Spamalot right now and are just having a hard time deciding, we may even end up seeing both before it's over with, but we are just looking for opinions or suggestions as to wh ich would be the best for us. Thanks!

Wicked is an absolutely amazing show. It has won multiple awards including Tonys for Best Costume Design, Best Set Design, and Best Actress in a Musical, as well as Drama Desk awards.

And there certainly is a Wicked-RENT connection. Idina Menzel originated the roles of both Maureen and Elphaba and her standby for the OBC of Wicked, Eden Espinosa, is Maureen for the CBC of RENT. Also, after Eden left the Los Angeles cast of Wicked, Caissie Levy, who had previously played Maureen, took over. Several of the ensemble members in many of the casts have been in RENT.

Wicked is a wonderful show!

This is my favorite review:

"Wicked works because it has something Broadway musicals, so addicted to facetiousness and camp, have largely given up on: a story that adults can take seriously. Adapted by Winnie Holzmann from the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, the musical reimagines a children's tale in grown-up psychopolitical terms...As the Wizard puts it, "The best way to bring folks together is to give them a really good enemy."...IF EVERY MUSICAL HAD A BRAIN, A HEART, AND THE COURAGE OF WICKED, BROADWAY REALLY WOULD BE A MAGICAL PLACE."

Tough call. But I say Wicked. Its a better show. In forty years no one will remember Spamalot, but Wicked will be a Classic.

Also, there seems to be a cool Wicked-RENT connection. As you might know, Idina Menzel was Maureen in RENT. She also opened Wicked as Elphaba. And many more Elphaba actresses played Maureen previously.

Now, Spamalot is fun too, but its just not as good as Wicked. See the show or you'll slap yourself for missing it!

I went to see Wicked and am going to see Spamalot soon. If you see Wicked you won't be disappointed though. Its a great musical! It has some awesome lighting and sound effects and some prety neat scene changes.

Spamalot is a comedy so if you like comedy than go for that one... Its all about what you like personally, everyone has their opinion. I wouldn't mind seeing Wicked for a second time!

As much as I love Wicked, I say go with Spamalot.

Did you know that Drew Lachey is in it?

Anyway, Wicked isn't as great to see if it isn't the original cast, sadly. And everyone has already seen Wicked. Go with the underdog.

Spamalot, I say!

Good luck! Hope this helps!

depraved is actual the wonderful on that checklist - and it will charm the widest form of folk. i've got seen it three times - the song is large and so are the gadgets/specific outcomes. Lion King is likewise severe up in that classification - very solid practice and likeable via maximum human beings, regardless of if or not they like Broadway shows or not. Spamalot is fairly humorous, inspite of the undeniable fact that finding on if Clay Aiken remains in it, may be a greater solid fee ticket to get. Jersey Boys - very solid, and the hot forged has gotten very solid comments. Chicago has rotating celebrities interior the solid - examine and ensure you will like the leads till now seeing it! (i think of it is the practice Nicole Richie is meant to bypass into...) i would not advise Grease, it replaced into not very solid. Phantom is an prolonged-working classic, yet some on your team might discover it boring. Drowsy Chaperone replaced into large, inspite of the undeniable fact that it has closed already!
