Just been cast as Eliza Doolittle! XD How should I learn my script?

Question

Yesterday I got a phone call saying that I had been chosen to play Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!

And today i got one of the fattest scripts I have ever seen dumped on my lap, and told to learn it over summer.

Well,last time I was cast as a lead, it took me much longer then 8 weeks to learn the lines, so I was wondering if anyone knew any good learning techniques, so I can be the fairest fair lady. Any help is much appreciated.

Congrats!!!!! That's one of my favorite roles in theater!



There are a few things you could do.



You could reccord your lines into a tape player or something like that, then play them back to yourself so you could hear them. Also, you could just reccord your cue lines, and then say your lines as the tape reccorder plays.



Also, you could have a friend or family member help you run your lines.



Then there is always renting the movie, and seeing how similar the script and the movie are. If they are really similar, you could watch the movie. BUT do NOT copy the actor in the movie. Find your own character.



Simply re-reading the script over and over again will also help.

Comments on the other answers. Do not use a mirror, you cannot act and be audience at the same time. And I like the idea of renting the film. Do not worry about making your own character, you obviously are not Julie Andrews and will be much different anyhow. Just do not do an impression fo her doing the role. You just do it.

Eliza Doolittle?, My truthful lady?, 'does no longer or no longer this is gorgeous'? She had a extraordinary worse faux cockney accessory than Lily Allen, certainly, no, Lily Allen's is the stupidest i've got ever heard.
