does passion play a part in all murder cases?

it seems to me that passion plays a large part when it comes to murder. the passion can become so intense that it takes over a person and that person is convinced that they should murder for the purpose of passion. is this true or am i "off the wall".

You are definitely not 'off the wall' as passion is one of the MANY reasons for murder, but of course you could think of practically any reason for murder if the person were a complete physco. John Lennon for example, murder by a moron whose life had gone to pot.
