There is speculation that he is, but he hasn't come out as gay. Does it really matter??

Where have you been? Yes George is openly Gay, has a partner, (but judging from recent newspaper reports they have an open relationship) Plus he was prosecuted in LA for propositioning an undercover cop in a public loo. THis led to one of his best (and most amusing songs) But, If you are going to decide NOT to like his MUSIC, simply because hes gay, then I think that you are small minded, homophobic, and I feel very sorry for you.
