Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then, leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
. Nothing gold can stay.

it sort of means that nothing lasts forever. the poem can sort of be related to life. its sort of saying that through out your life you start "golden" as an innocent child then you become a "Flower" and grow into an adult but life goes by too quickly until finally you die...nothing gold can stay. does that make since?? i think i just confused myself.

I love the movie the outsiders, (tat poem is in it, I'm not crazy,) It means that nothing lasts forever. Cherish the goods things while they last. Don't take anything for granit. I hope that helps!
