Hi - getting her into a good theatre group or acting class would be a good idea, and if she doesn't already, having singing and dancing lessons is advisable.

Starting acting at 13 is difficult - most jobs for teenagers go to kids who have been at major stage schools since they were 6, but very few of them manage the transition to adult acting.

I'd advise that she gets experience at the theatre group, and works really hard at school to get good enough grades to get a place in a top drama school when she's 18. Everything she learns at school will be useful for her as an actor - it all seems to come in useful when you least expect it.

After drama school is when she'll need to build up a resume, because the experience they look for is in adult's plays, short films, etc, not kids' stuff.

Do make sure that this is her dream, though, not yours. Even if she has real talent, it's a very hard life, and she'll probably never earn much money or become well-known. Most actors have a 'normal' job for the huge gaps in between acting work, just to pay the rent, the bills and food.

She would have to want it more than anything and be prepared to work really hard for many years before she gets a single paid job.

I'm not trying to be negative, but being realistic is essential.

My daughter's just finished drama school, and is at last starting to get work, but it's not easy.

I wish you both luck!

I am sure that 13 is waaay too young to do anything like that, but... it's your choise. Well, when I was passing egzams to get into theatre academy(I'm a Theatre director) I also had to pass acting egzams. What you need to know as a simple person, who wants to act is:

* Books. A lot of books about theatre, it's systems, famours and powerful directors and actors, history, ways of doing, etc etc etc etc i tell you it's HELL OF A LOT OF BOOKS. If you don't read them now - you'll have to read all that during one year while studying. And while you study there is no time for anything else.

* Singing.

* Dancing

* Reading(by saying reading they alwasy mean saying text you have learnt by heart) 3-6 different texts - plays, stories, romances, poems, etc.

* Theatre dancing - let's call it "being fit and move good". It's not the same as dancing - it's how you move on stage.

* You simply need to be a smart person - when they talk to you, they can see your brians soooo sooo sooo clearly... After they tlaked to me for 30minutes at my egzams, they told me about myself more than I could ever think of. And everything was true. And almost everything was bad - like being hyperactive when nervious, or etc :D

* You must WANT to be an ctress so bad, if you want to stay there... acting is so not easy, as everybody thinks. it is one of the hardest jobs to do, actually. and that's not my personal opinion. actors are known for not getting jobs and being low paid all the time. forget about hollywood, only a few *** suckers ake it there.

acting and drama classes. student and ind. films,community theater. any acting training and any

acting parts,not counting extra parts can go on a resume. where you are located will determine

what and how much opportunities are available to you. you have to be in the right place. you

won't find opportunities everywhere. look in your phone book for acting instruction and community theater. any college near you that has film programs will have student films being made. look

in the classifieds of your newspaper for ind. film auditions. would help to know where you are to

give a better answer as to where to look for things. you realize you will actively have to do this with your daughter. you will need to drop what your doing and get her everywhere she will need to go

and sit on the set with her when she works. you will need to take her down to your local state building

and get her a work permit before you start anything.

combating interior the sector conflict on the large Pennsic conflict, a 2-week long medieval tenting adventure for contributors of the SCA, the place extensive wargames are performed out on a container equivalent to 4 soccer fields and with a 30 foot intense fort geared up at one end. Our armor is actual, yet our weapons are produced from thick, sturdy rattan poles, and without that armor we would wreck bones or perhaps kill one yet another, provided that we are swinging at comprehensive speed and potential. in simple terms seek "Pennsic conflict" for a lot of websites showing this magnificent adventure.

You could take her to acting or theatre classes. As a actor it's good to know how to move, so maybe also dance classes...
