I started to read the Maximum Ride books, and I loved the main character, Max. Since there is going to be movies based on the books, I figured I would audition for Max. I told my mom a few times already, but she thinks I'm going to be shy in front of the camera and will not do good. She also says I will not do good because I don't have any experience and I am undiscovered, but that's the kind of person James Patterson wants as Max. I still have time before the auditions start. How do I prove to my mom that I will do good as an actress? Please give me advice!!!!

Tell her that you can do it, that you'll be confident! Tell her that you'll practice a lot so that you'll be able to do it. Remember you can do anything you set your mind to and practice makes perfect. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't! Youre mom should be supporting you, not tearing you down. Show her what you can do and tell her that james patterson wants someone whos undiscovered. You should make sure you educate her on what youre going to have to do and what they want. Theres nothing to lose in trying out. So go for it :). I also love the series and I'm looking forward to see you as max in the movie!!! Good luck!

Maybe you ought to consider local opportunities for experience; in addition to the movie you mention. While its great to think about becoming the next unknown person to leap to a lead in movie; that's somewhat improbably - yes, it has happened but it is a remote chance. Why not look at local casting calls for movie extras, smaller roles, commercials. Have you considered community theater or theater at schools? Is this something you want to pursue as a course of study? If you want a career in show business, then there are many ways to get on that path - and perhaps if you start down that path your mom may be more supportive. Good luck.

Well you might tell her that its not her thing to judge that, its the director/casting director.

But she has the final saying if youre a young person and it involves expensives to go to the audition.

You might be lucky but generally I agree with your mother that its VERY hard to score a leading part in a major hollywoood production without any form off education, a lot off experience and a bunch off contacts. Even actors that "comes out off nothing" normaly have done loads off low profile works and schools before they got theyre big hit. Johan.

Well, you aren't going to get the part unless 1.they are holding open auditons 2.you have an agent.

If they are having open auditions, you can audition and hope you get it. If they don't you have to make a bigger commitment then just wanting one big movie part.

You can't prove her wrong until you actually DO what it is she says you can't do. I'm not usually one to advise giving up on anything, but your mom has a closed mind about this and no matter what you say or do to "prove" yourself, she's going to find another excuse to dissuade you (to be fair, I'm sure she believes she's acting in your best interest). In the meantime, pick your battles: Do local theatre work, school plays, etc. until she sees how good you are and will let you spread your wings more. There will be other roles.
